Your Government Lacks Accountability, Excellence, and any Genuine Prioritisation of the People.By Adebayo Wale Simon
Governor Adeleke, this is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf: your government lacks accountability, excellence, and any genuine prioritisation of the people’s welfare. If truth be told, you are running a government of Ede, by Ede, and for Ede. Since assuming office in 2022, your administration has consistently shown that it places little or no value on the collective will of the Osun people who voted you into power.
One of your earliest actions was to erect a statue of your late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, at the entrance of the Osun State Secretariat in Abere, while also changing the official address of the Secretariat from Osogbo, the state capital, to Abere in Ede. That symbolic gesture revealed your true intentions—shifting the identity and pride of Osun’s capital towards your hometown.
Every road in Ede has either been rehabilitated or newly constructed under your watch. Roads are even being opened to private homes—both prominent and obscure. In less than three years, Ede’s infrastructural development has outshone Osogbo, the state capital, with massive, high-quality roads routed into your hometown.
I challenge anyone who doubts this to take a drive through Ede, as I did. The truth will hit them in the face—roads everywhere, from expressways to inner streets, all constructed or rehabilitated with precision and quality.
Meanwhile, you attempt to mask this nepotism by announcing flyovers in Osogbo and Ile-Ife—projects that look more like political distractions than genuine commitments. When your party, PDP, suffered gale of defections, you rushed into token projects: a 3km dualisation in Ilesa to pacify Senator Francis Fadahunsi’s base, and another shallow dual carriageway in Ila-Orangun after Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi’s exit. Yet, you ignored the critical Ila–Ora–Kwara boundary road that has cut off communities. Even Iwo only got a 3km dualisation project. These are nothing but Greek gifts—unfinished promises you will recycle as campaign tools in 2026.
The truth is clear: in three years, you have ensured Ede enjoys over 40km of quality roads, while no other town can boast of even 3km. This is despite Osun reportedly receiving nearly ₦1 trillion in federal allocations within this period, excluding local government funds. With such resources, balanced development should be visible across Osun. Instead, Ede reaps gold while others get crumbs.
Your discontinuation of Ipade Imole—the supposed town hall accountability session—was no accident. You chose opacity over transparency, evading scrutiny while hiding behind shallow PR, all as Ede soaks up collective resources.
Governor Adeleke, Osun people are no longer deceived. If you can be this intentional about developing only your hometown, the people of Osun will be just as intentional about sending you home in 2026.
