OYPI Fires Back: Debunks Osun Youth Coalition's Misleading Narrative.
Osun Youths Progressive Initiative (OYPI) Sets the Record Straight on Withheld Local Government Allocations
The Osun Youths Progressive Initiative (OYPI), a progressive youth platform within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has noted with concern a misleading press release by the "Osun Youth Coalition" regarding withheld local government allocations.
Setting the Record Straight
We wish to correct the following misinformation:
1. *No local government allocation is withheld by the Presidency*. The Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has consistently disbursed statutory allocations to all states and local governments through the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC).
2. *Allocations have been duly disbursed*. In Osun State, allocations meant for local governments have been released to the duly elected local government chairmen, in line with the rule of law and democratic principles.
3. *NULGE must stop playing politics*. We caution the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Osun State against becoming a partisan tool in the hands of the PDP.
4. *Responsibility lies with the State Government*. The challenge facing local government administration in Osun is not from the Federal Government but from the current PDP-led state administration.
5. *Youth must not be used as political tools*. We urge genuine youth groups to rise above propaganda and work together in demanding transparency and accountability from those managing our common patrimony.
Call to Action
We call on the Osun Youth Coalition to direct their concerns to the Osun State Government House instead of making baseless accusations against President Tinubu.
Conclusion
President Tinubu remains committed to strengthening democracy, empowering the grassroots, and ensuring local governments play their rightful role in community development. We stand solidly behind his administration and will continue to expose any attempt to mislead the public with false narratives.
Signed:
Sulaiman Babajide
Spokesperson, Osun Youths Progressive Initiative (OYPI)
