Shelve Your Planned Physical Attacks on Reinstated LG Chairmen, Osun APC Warns PDP, Osun Govt.
• Tasks Governor to Address Allegation of Diverting LG Allocation to Family's Accounts.
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has alerted the public about the plot of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some officials of the Osun State Government to violently take control of the local government council secretariats on Monday, 23rd June, 2025, after the government's failure to obtain legal and court backings to return to the council.
The APC added that information has it that the handlers of the state government had equally mapped out plans to unleash street urchins to disrupt the peace of the state in a bid to appeal to emotion of the members of the public over the local government administration which the Court of Appeal affirmed on February 10, 2025, should be managed by the elected APC chairmen and councillors .
In a statement circulated on Sunday by the Director of Media and Information of the party, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC warned the ruling PDP to rise above cheap political consideration and instead partner with the duly and legally recognized local government executives to render impactful dividend of democracy to the people of the state.
The party also charged the state government to channel its energy to clear the allegation that the local government allocation, running to over N200 billion, had been funneled into private bank accounts linked to members of the Adeleke family and from whence contractors engaged by the state government were serviced.
It is no longer news that the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration has turned itself into a critical opposition of some of the institutions of the Federal Government like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Ministry of Justice and the supervisory Minister of Justice and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Lateef Fagbemi and even the Inspector-General of Police over the management of local government which the Court of Appeal on February 10, 2025, gracefully handed to the chairmen and councillors elected under our party.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not even spared in the constant tantrums of Governor Adeleke and his aides any time the judgement of any court of the land does not go their way. The governor and his associates have turned themselves to wounded lions, fighting dirty over the control of the local government and in their desperation to upturn the 10th February, 2025 landmark judgement of the Court of Appeal which favoured our party.
Having realized that they committed fatal error in not appealing, on time, to the Supreme Court the said February 10 judgement, Governor Adeleke and his men went into panic mode, rushing to the Supreme Court in April to gamble on a case which from all indications the state does not have constitutional powers to enter into.
They perhaps sensed and gambled that the Supreme Court would cure for them a self-inflicted injury.
Unfortunately for them, they were confronted with more shockers at the Supreme Court when the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Attorney-General of the Federation insisted that the law of the land, pursuant to the Appeal Court judgement of February 10, 2025, only recognizes the APC-led chairmen and councillors.
The Federal Government did not stop there; it also prayed to the Supreme Court that the Osun State Government should be made to refund to the coffers of the 30 local governments in the state federal allocation from July 2024 to February 2025, amounting to about N84 billion being the Allocation due to the local governments which the Adeleke government spent without recourse to the recognized local government authorities.
When all credible options to revive the hopeless bid to return the illegal and sit-at-home PDP impostors failed, the administration of Governor Adeleke began to forum-shop, running helter skelter from one lower court to another, to set aside the judgement of the Court of Appeal that reinstated our chairmen and councillors.
The citizens witnessed how Governor Adeleke and his co-travellers struggled last week to sell a dummy to the unsuspecting members of the public by publicising mere obiter dicta as the judgement of the last judgment of the Court of Appeal on the reinstated APC council chairmen and councillors - a venture which fell flat like a pack of cards.
Having exhausted their jokers, they are now activating plots to disrupt peace in the state, believing it would fetch them a leverage to turn the public against our members, particularly the elected officials administering the affairs of the local government council.
While we thank the security agencies for their proactiveness and professionalism thus far, we want to further plead with them, especially the Inspector-General of Police, the National Directorate of the DSS and the National Security Adviser(NSA) not to rest on their oars. We appeal to them to further intensify their searchlight in ensuring the security of our members is not compromised by social deviants threatening to make the local government ungovernable for the reinstated local government officials.
