Iragbiji, Osun State | Friday, 20th March 2026

His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, on Friday led Muslims and residents of Iragbijiland to the Community Eid Prayer Ground at Isale Oyo, marking the celebration of Eid in the year 1447AH/2026. The revered monarch joined the faithful in observing the two Rakat prayers, demonstrating leadership, humility, and a deep commitment to religious harmony within the ancient town.

In his address, the Aragbiji congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast and emphasized the enduring values of compassion, sacrifice, and unity cultivated during the holy month. He urged residents to extend kindness to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and uphold moral discipline beyond the Ramadan period. According to him, “Eid is not only a time of celebration but a reminder of our shared humanity, where love, generosity, and empathy must guide our daily interactions.”

Delivering the sermon, the Chief Imam of Iragbijiland, Sheikh Salman Sulaiman Atewogbade Afolabi, admonished Muslims to remain steadfast in righteousness and sustain the spiritual gains of Ramadan. He called on the faithful to abstain from vices which they refrained from during the holy month, support one another sincerely, and continue to live in accordance with Islamic teachings. Special prayers were offered for the continued prosperity of Iragbijiland, as well as for the monarch’s long life, wisdom, and strength in leadership.

Following the prayers, the celebration transitioned into a vibrant procession back  to the Aragbiji Palace, where the monarch, members of the Aragbiji-in-Council, and jubilant residents gathered in a festive atmosphere. The palace came alive with cultural displays, music, and communal feasting, reflecting the unity and joy that define the Eid celebration in Iragbiji.

Prayers were also offered for national peace and progress, including for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

The event reaffirmed the Aragbiji’s role as a unifying figure, fostering harmony, spiritual growth, and collective responsibility among his people.
