KILOMODEMO ATTENDS CORONATION OF OBA OWOADE AS 46TH ALAAFIN OF OYO
Prince Adeniran Kilomodemo Ibitoye also known as KLM was among Dignitaries who attended the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade 1, Iku Baba Yeye, as46th Alaafin of Oyo.
The event was held on Saturday, 5th April 2025 at the historic Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, Oyo State.
KLM, a Prince of Osun State and a former Member of the Osun State House of Assembly congratulated Oba Owoade, noting that Royalty requires an in-borne traits, as he further expressed confidence that the new Alaafin has what it takes to rule the town with all sense of willingness to preserve the culture and tradition of Oyo and make the people experience a new era.
"There is no gainsaying the fact that Oba Owoade 1 has the needed exposure, wisdom and capability to bring progress and development to Oyo Ile and I make bold to say that the people of Oyo Kingdom are lucky to witness his Ascension to the throne, because it is such that will birth all round development in Oyo town and Oyo State at large"
Hon Ibitoye, who is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) expressed delight that the 46th Alaafin of Oyo is an Engineer by profession. He added that their relationship dated back to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada some years back.
According to Kilomodemo, the ascension of an Engineer to the revered Alaafin throne is a great honour to the engineering profession and a testament to the role of Engineers in leadership and governance.
"It is significant that an Engineer was crowned as Alaafin. This is in honour of his achievements as a distinguished Engineer that is now saddled with the responsibility of ruling his people.
Many friends and well wishers from the diaspora which include Canada, USA, UK, Sierra Leone and different parts of Nigeria attended the ceremony.
Governor Seyi Makinde, Government functionaries, were present. Also, dignitaries, traditional rulers that graced the coronation included the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who led over 100 first-class Kabiyesis to the royal event.
Others are the Oluwo of Iwo, Olu of Warri, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye; Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; many other revered Kabiyesis from Osun State, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr Margaret Aina Oguntala, Baba Ifayemi Elebuibon, Aare Oona Kankanfo of Yoruba, Iba Gani Adams, among others.
The event showcased the rich cultural heritage and deep-rooted traditions of the Oyo Empire, with colourful displays of royalty, traditional rites, and vibrant performances that reflect the pride of the Yoruba people.
The ceremony marked a significant chapter in the history of Oyo Ile, as Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade took his rightful place by ascending the throne of his forefathers, continuing the legacy of leadership, tradition, and unity.
You will recall that Oba Owoade was presented with the staff of office and instrument of office on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, the state capital.
