Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council Welcomes Inspector-General of Police to Osun • Calls for Immediate Arrest of Emir Ajagungbade, Nurudeen Alowonle, Jide Joda, Solo Iwara, Other Murder Suspects of APC Members

• Calls for Immediate Arrest of Emir Ajagungbade, Nurudeen Alowonle, Jide Joda, Solo Iwara, Other Murder Suspects of APC Members 

• Thorough Investigation of Senator  Lere Oyewumi's Alleged Links to Killings of APC Chieftains Remi Abass, Saheed Oyegunju 

The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council warmly welcomes the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to Osun State and expresses confidence in his commitment to professionalism, justice and the rule of law.

The Council respectfully urges the Inspector-General to ensure that all criminal investigations in the state are conducted diligently, professionally and without fear or favour. The Council believes that securing justice for victims of violent crimes is essential to restoring public confidence in law enforcement.

The Council therefore call on the Nigeria Police Force to intensify efforts to apprehend all individuals who have been formally declared wanted by the police and to ensure they are brought before the courts to answer the allegations against them.

The Council also appeals to the Inspector-General to ensure that the recent attempted assassination of the Director-General of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Oluwole Oke, is thoroughly investigated and that anyone found responsible is prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The APC also urges the Inspector-General of Police to specifically order a review of all unresolved murder cases in Osun State since 2022.

In 2022, Tajudeen Rabiu, an APC chieftain and NURTW leader in Osogbo, was killed. In the same year, one Waheed was brutally murdered. According to reports, before he was killed, one of his legs was tied with a rope and severed while he was still alive. His body was subsequently taken away by the assailants. This killing has been linked to an appointee of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Olalekan Oyeyemi (aka Emir Ajagungbade).

Also in November 2022, an APC member, Muraina Olayiwola, was reportedly murdered by another appointee of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Nurudeen Wakili (aka Nuru Alawonle), in collaboration with Olalekan Oyeyemi (aka Emir Ajagungbade) and their gang.

Another APC member, Olalekan Ososondi, was also allegedly killed by the same Emir Ajagungbade. Reports indicate that Ososondi's head was smashed with heavy stones.

In 2023, another APC member, Ismail Dudu, was killed in Ota Efun. According to reports, he was murdered by having his throat slit. Both Emir Ajagungbade and Nurudeen Alawonle have been accused of being responsible for the killing.

In November 2025, Adeboye Ademoroti (aka Gernanee), an Osun APC member and NURTW leader in Ilesa, was shot and killed by gunmen. The killing was allegedly carried out by another appointee of Governor Ademola Adeleke, Solomon Adefioye (aka Solo Iwara). Adefioye has also been accused of involvement in multiple killings of APC members and supporters in Ijesaland. It is disturbing that despite having been declared wanted by the police since 2022, he continues to move freely and is accused of committing further crimes.

In February 2023, during the presidential campaign visit of President Bola Tinubu to Osun State, the APC Treasurer for Ward 9 in Irewole Local Government, Saheed Oyegunju, was kidnapped in broad daylight by thugs said to be associated with the current Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi. His body was later found by the roadside. Although some arrests were reportedly made initially, the case was swept under the carpet.

In February 2025, a chieftain of our party and Chairman of Irewole Local Government Council, Hon. Remi Abass, was killed in broad daylight within the premises of the local government council. One of the prime suspects, Jide Joda, an appointee of Governor Ademola Adeleke, was declared wanted by the police after he jumped bail. Senator Lere Oyewumi has also been linked to the killing, but the law enforcement agencies are playing ostrich to the case.

Mr Inspector-General of Police, sir, the APC places its confidence in your leadership and respectfully requests a thorough investigation into allegations that Senator Lere Oyewumi handed over to the police in Ikire a firearm allegedly recovered from a security guard attached to the late Hon. Remi Abass.

We also urge your office to investigate allegations that Senator Lere Oyewumi paid senior police officers the sum of ₦70 million to compromise the investigation into the murder of Hon. Remi Abass.

This year, one of our members in Otan Ayegbaju, one Akeem, was murdered by thugs allegedly associated with the Accord Party.

Similarly, Kazeem Oyebamiji (aka Mosquito), a member of our party in Ward 4, Olorunda Local Government, was brutally murdered in Osogbo on January 18 by thugs reportedly led by the notorious Emir Ajagungbade.

The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council therefore urges the Inspector-General of Police to ensure the immediate arrest of the following suspects who have been declared wanted by the police:

1. Jide Joda, in connection with the murder of Hon. Remi Abass, former Chairman of Irewole Local Government.

2. Olalekan Oyeyemi (aka Emir Ajagungbade), in connection with multiple murders of APC members.

3. Nurudeen Wakili (aka Nurudeen Alawonle), who was found in possession of a Beretta pistol and ammunition in November 2024, and who has been linked to the murders of Muraina Olayiwola and others.

4. Solomon Adefioye ( aka Solo Iwara) in connection with multiple killings of APC members 

The Inspector-General of Police should also direct a thorough investigation into the allegations against Senator Lere Oyewumi in connection with the murders of Saheed Oyegunju and Hon. Remi Abass.

We urge investigators to follow all credible leads and evidence without interference.

Furthermore, we respectfully request that all other unresolved cases involving the killings of APC members and supporters over the past few years be reviewed to ensure that justice is done for the victims and their families. Every Nigerian deserves equal protection under the law, irrespective of political affiliation.

The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council remains committed to peace, democracy, and the rule of law. We urge all our members and supporters to remain peaceful and continue to cooperate with security agencies as they discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
