HAND OVER WANTED MURDER SUSPECTS HIDING IN GOVERNMENT HOUSE, ARREST SENATOR LERE OYEWUMI, IBUKUN FADIPE NOW – OSUN APC CAMPAIGN COUNCIL TELLS GOVERNOR ADELEKE, POLICE

The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to immediately hand over all wanted criminal suspects being shielded by his administration, including Emir Ajagungbade, Nurudeen Alawonle, Jide Jọda and others reportedly finding refuge within the Government House, Okefia, Osogbo.
The Council notes with grave concern that these individuals have become fugitives from justice after jumping bail following their temporary release by various courts. They have since been declared wanted by the Police, yet they are seen openly associating with Governor Adeleke at official and political functions without any effort to facilitate their arrest.
Emir Ajagungbade is wanted in connection with allegations bordering on multiple murders, armed robbery, kidnapping and acts of terrorism. Rather than being brought to justice, he has continued to enjoy protection and unrestricted access to the Governor.
Similarly, Nurudeen Alawonle is wanted over allegations relating to the killing of nine APC supporters during the 2022 election violence. He was also arrested in possession of a Barrett pistol and ammunition in November 2024.
Despite these serious allegations and his reported status as a wanted suspect, he is seen regularly in the company of Governor Adeleke at public events.
Jide Jọda, the sit-at-home Chairman of Irewole Local Government, has equally been declared wanted in connection with the murder of the late Hon. Remi Abass, APC leader and Chairman of Irewole Local Government, who was brutally killed within the premises of the local government secretariat in February 2025.
The Council also calls for the immediate arrest and thorough investigation of the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Lere Oyewumi, over his links to the deaths of two APC chieftains from Irewole Local Government as well as the 2027 Senatorial Candidate of Accord for Ife/Ijesa district, Hon. Ibukun Fadipe ( aka IBK) over allegation of arming thugs with arms and ammunition.
The first victim, Alhaji Saheed Oyegunju, Treasurer of the APC in Irewole Ward 9—the same ward as Senator Lere Oyewumi—was murdered in February 2023 under circumstances that remain unresolved. The second victim, Hon. Remi Abass, was murdered in February 2025. There have been persistent allegations linking Senator Lere Oyewumi, who also serves as the Director-General of the Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation, alongside Jide Jọda, to the circumstances surrounding the killing of Hon. Remi Abass.
These allegations deserve a thorough, impartial and professional investigation.
We therefore call on the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in Osun State to ensure the immediate arrest of Emir Ajagungbade, Nurudeen Alawonle, Jide Jọd and any other wanted suspects, while also inviting Senator Lere Oyewumi and Ibukun Fadipe (IBK) for questioning without further delay.
No individual, regardless of political office or influence, should be above the law. The credibility of law enforcement depends on its willingness to enforce the law impartially and without fear or favour.
The continued failure to apprehend suspects who have already been declared wanted, despite allegations that they move freely under the protection of government officials, raises serious concerns about the commitment of the Police to the impartial administration of justice.
Unless these wanted suspects are arrested and appropriate investigations are carried out expeditiously, the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council will have no option but to conclude that the Police have been compromised and are complicit in shielding individuals wanted for serious criminal offences.
