Empowerment: Odebunmi Hits 1,500 Homes With Bank Alerts, Rallies Boripe For Ambo-kayode
In a major intervention aimed at stimulating local enterprise and cushioning hardship, the Chairman of Boripe Local Government, Hon. Odebunmi Sikiru , has empowered 1,500 vulnerable residents with grants disbursed directly into their bank accounts.
In a statement issued by his Media Office, Hon. Odebunmi disclosed that the empowerment scheme targeted petty traders, artisans, widows, and unemployed youths drawn from all wards in Boripe. He said the initiative aligns with his administration’s agenda of inclusive development, transparency, and direct impact.
_“We are not just sending money; we are sowing seeds into the local economy through a transparent, traceable system. A small injection into a market woman’s business or a barber’s shop multiplies across families and communities,”_ Odebunmi said.
He added that disbursing the grants through banks ensures accountability, removes bottlenecks, and promotes financial inclusion for beneficiaries who previously operated outside the formal banking system.
The Council Chairman urged the people of Boripe to support the AMBO-KAYODE project, which he described as “a proven platform for accelerated growth and responsive leadership.”_ He further called on constituents to support the re-election of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu , GCFR, to consolidate the Renewed Hope Agenda and deepen grassroots development.
Hon. Odebunmi commended President Tinubu for his decision on local government financial autonomy, saying the reform has _“liberated councils from administrative bottlenecks and empowered them to initiate people-centred programmes without delay.”_
_“This is the promise of autonomy in action. When local governments have their resources, the people feel government directly. We thank Mr. President for returning power to the grassroots,”_ he added.
Beneficiaries confirmed receipt of credit alerts and expressed gratitude to the Chairman, describing the approach as dignifying and modern. Many pledged to invest the funds wisely and to support his administration, the AMBO-KAYODE mandate, and the re-election of President Tinubu.
Hon. Odebunmi assured that his government will sustain this model of direct, traceable empowerment and roll out more interventions for farmers, students, and transport operators in subsequent phases.
