Boripe LG Empowers Another 1,500 Households with ₦50,000 Cash Transfers as Second Batch of Poverty Alleviation Program Rolls Out

The Executive Chairman of Boripe Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Odebunmi, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots empowerment as 1,500 additional households received ₦50,000 cash transfers under the second batch of the council’s Poverty Alleviation Support Program.

The disbursement, which begins on Saturday via direct transfer to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, targets vulnerable residents, petty traders, widows, and unemployed youths across the 11 wards of Boripe LGA. This follows the first batch rolled out earlier this year, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to over 3,000 households.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Media Unit, Office of the Chairman, Hon. Odebunmi commended the resilience of Boripe residents and stressed that the initiative is designed to cushion the effects of economic hardship while boosting small-scale enterprises.

“We are not just giving cash, we are restoring dignity and hope. ₦50,000 in the hands of a determined trader or farmer can change a family’s story,” Odebunmi stated.

He assured the public that transparency and fairness guided the selection process, with community leaders and ward representatives involved in identifying genuine beneficiaries. The Chairman also pledged that more batches will follow, alongside skills acquisition and micro-credit schemes already in the pipeline.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, noting that the funds will support school fees, farm inputs, and small business restocking.

The program aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of inclusive development, youth empowerment, and sustainable poverty reduction.
