Osun Workers Deserve Better—AMBO Rejects False Salary Reduction Propaganda
The Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts wishes to notify the general public, particularly civil servants in Osun State, of the false and malicious news being circulated claiming that our Principal and leading governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), is planning to reduce the salaries of civil servants in the employment of the Osun State Government. This claim is entirely false. AMBO has no intention of subjecting civil servants to the hardship they are currently experiencing under the present administration. Instead, he is committed to working closely with labour leaders to improve workers’ welfare and give them a fresh lease of life.
The fake news attributed to AMBO does not reflect the character of a man widely acknowledged---within and outside politics---as a rare leader whose commitment to the wellbeing of the people is unparallel.
Even at a time when Osun State received a low monthly federal allocation---around N2 billion---under the last APC administration in which AMBO served as Commissioner of Finance, the government remained steadfast in prioritising the welfare of public workers and pensioners. Despite financial constraints, salaries and pensions were paid promptly, and the Adegboyega Oyetola-led administration increased the national minimum wage from N18,000 to N30,000, becoming one of the first 5 states in the country to fully implement the new minimum wage . With the stupendous increase in the federal allocation, now in the region of N13 billion per month, the next APC government in the state will do better in addressing the workers' challenges.
When AMBO, by the grace of God and through the support of the good people of Osun, is elected governor in 2026, he will not reduce salaries or pensions, as falsely claimed by the purveyors of this malicious rumour. Rather, he will ensure that workers earn wages that can sustain their families and improve their quality of life. He will also prioritise training and opportunities for workers just as he will provide bursaries and scholarships for the deserving children of civil servants. Furthermore, he will not punish or witch-hunt any labour union leaders for their roles in the ongoing local government crisis.
