Nigeria at 65: Local Government Autonomy Has Renewed Hope of the Grassroots - Boripe LG Chairman

As Nigeria celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Chairman of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon. Odebunmi Sikiru , has stated that the granting of autonomy to local governments has renewed the hope of the grassroots for effective governance and development.

In a press statement issued to commemorate Nigeria's 65th Independence Anniversary, the Chairman noted that the autonomy granted to local governments has enabled them to take charge of their affairs, make decisions that affect their people, and implement projects that have direct impact on the lives of the grassroots.

"The granting of autonomy to local governments is a significant milestone in Nigeria's democratic journey. It has given us the opportunity to take ownership of our development, make decisions that affect our people, and implement projects that have direct impact on the lives of our people."

The Chairman commended the Federal Government for granting autonomy to local governments, stating that it is a bold step towards deepening democracy and ensuring that power is devolved to the grassroots.

"We commend the Federal Government for taking this bold step. It is a clear demonstration of its commitment to deepening democracy and ensuring that power is devolved to the grassroots."

The Chairman also appreciated the Federal Government led by His Excellency President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu  GCFR for its support and cooperation in ensuring the smooth implementation of local government autonomy.

"Its commitment to ensuring that local governments are empowered to deliver on their mandate is commendable."

The Chairman concluded by assuring the people of Boripe Local Government Area that his administration will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the autonomy granted to local governments is used to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.

"We assure our people that we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the autonomy granted to us is used to deliver dividends of democracy. We will continue to prioritize projects that have direct impact on the lives of our people and ensure that our local government is a model of effective governance."
