Osun Reps Hopeful Aremo Adelabu Seeks State Govt. Backing For Orphanages

Former Special Adviser on Youth and Sports under ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and House of Representatives aspirant for Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu/Irepodun Federal Constituency, *Aremo Adegboyega Abdulateef Adelabu*, has urged governments at all levels to strengthen support for orphanages and homes for vulnerable children.

Adelabu made the call on Monday during a birthday outreach to the *Federation of Muslim Women’s Association (FOMWAN) Orphanage Home* in Osogbo, where he donated food items, clothing, and other essentials to children and staff.

_“If you travel abroad, you will see places where people access free food, clothes, and other essentials through government support. If private individuals can do this much, imagine what will happen if government comes to their assistance,”_ he said.

He noted that the faith-based home runs largely on personal contributions, adding that government intervention would help such facilities expand their impact.

Adelabu stressed that the outreach is a personal tradition, not politics. _“Birthday is a time to give gratitude to Almighty Allah. After prayers, the next thing is to give. I have been visiting this home for years, even before politics,”_ he said.

Administrator of the home, *Mrs. Adeyemi Rukayatu*, described the donation as impactful. _“All the items provided are very useful to our children. We have children in higher institutions and their education requires support. We urge government and well-meaning Nigerians to continue to assist us,”_ she said.

Director General of the Aremo Adelabu Campaign, Mr. Shola Oyeduntan, said the visit marks _“maybe the tenth consecutive year”_ of support to the home. “This is not because of any political season. This home is faith-based, well-organised, and the children are properly cared for. That is why we keep coming back,” Oyeduntan said.

He urged government to step in with financial support and logistics. “These people run this place through personal efforts. Government needs to provide support to create a more conducive environment for the children,” he added.
