OLAORE'S ABDUCTION: Osun Amotekun Is Crude, Deceitful, Barbaric - Osun APC

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress ( APC) has described the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), code named Amotekun in Osun State, as a deceitful, partisan and crude security outfit that must not be trusted with lives and properties of the people.

The  recent claim of the Amotekun over the crude abduction of Mr. Olaore Taiwo  from Iragbiji that he was invited for a briefing is laughable and  criminal while thanking the State Commissioner of Police for his swift intervention to rescue Olaore from the tyranny of the pliable state security outfit.

 Contrary to the claims of  the Amotekun, Olaore was  whisked away by gun-wielding Amotekun men at 10:30 pm  from his residence on Wednesday and that  it took the intervention of his wife who alerted his friends that his husband has been abducted by the Àmòtékùn Òsun  corps and whisked away before the plight of Olaore could be ascertained.

Olaore was transported on a motorcycle in the rain for close to an hour to the Amotekun headquarters in Osogbo where he was subsequently locked up in the cell.

It was reliably gathered that it was those that Olaore's wife ran to in Iragbiji including  two aides of  former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola  now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adebayo Adewale  and Alhaji Kazeem Akolawole , who promptly rushed to the Amotekun Office in Iragbiji and when they could not find him there, they reported him missing at the Divisional Police Office in Iragbiji.

Information has it that Olaore was detained at the Amotekun  office  in Osogbo for hours before the arrival of his family and friends. 

When his family and well-wishers got to the Amotekun office, they were teargased and beaten to the extent that Opeyemi  a.k.a.  'Utility' and a police officer who accompanied them to Osogbo were  wounded while Mr Wale Adebayo was arrested and those who came to effect his release were chased away in the dead of the night.

It was further learnt that it was  when the issue became festered that Olaore was driven to another destination under a heavy security where he was personally interrogated by Mr Isaac Adekunle Omoyele, the controversial Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps and later taken to the police station.

The bizarre thing therein was that Olaore was never confronted with any specific allegation throughout the period of his ordeal with the Amotekun Corps.

It is baffling  that a supposed state security outfit could be going after a law-abiding citizen of the state in a Gestapo manner at an unholy hour of the day without prior extension of an invitation  to him.

It is barbaric, crude and sadistic for a state security outfit to have resorted to the abduction of a member of the opposition APC under the guise of being a suspect for no justifiable cause.

We thank the police for the safety of the life of Olaore as the political instrument of oppression of the opposition would have, as usual, denied having the custody of him for reasons known to the leadership of the outfit and its sponsors in a similar way that it initially denied having the custody of some of our party members in Atakumosa-East Local Government Council Area of the state about a month ago.

We, as a party, are condemning the indiscriminate arrest of our members, supporters and other law-abiding members of the society by a supposed protectorate security outfit which has turned itself to a political instrument of oppression, persecution, intimidation and vendetta in order to muzzle the voices of the opposition.

We shall resist any unholy activities and inactivities of the Amotekun Corps capable of being used by the ruling party to gag the opposition through the instrumentality of the law of the land.

While thanking the State Commissioner of Police for his timely intervention, we call on him to bring the culprits to book and checkmate the excesses of the Amotekun Corps members that have become political tools designed for  tormenting the opposition in the state.
