Aragbiji Palace Hosts Ramadan Lecture on Islamic Perspective on Death and Funeral Rites

The Aragbiji Palace, under the auspices of His Royal Majesty Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi (JP) FCIPM, FNIM, MNIPR, FAFUED FOSCOTECH Odundun IV Asoludero, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), recently hosted a Ramadan lecture on the topic "Death and Funeral Rites, Islamic Perspective."

The lecture, delivered by renowned Islamic scholar Alfa Hashim Abdul Hammed from Ila-Orangun, provided valuable insights into the Islamic viewpoint on death, funeral rites, and the afterlife. The lecture emphasized the importance of preparing the deceased for burial with dignity and respect, in accordance with Islamic tradition.

Alfa Hashim AbdulHammed stressed the significance of treating the deceased with respect and dignity, including washing the body, shrouding, and performing the funeral prayer, known as Salat al-Janazah. He also highlighted the importance of patience and acceptance during the mourning period, discouraging excessive wailing and lamentation.

Furthermore, Alfa Hashim AbdulHammed emphasized the importance of families checking if the deceased had any outstanding debts before proceeding with burial. This, he explained, is essential to ensure that the deceased's soul can rest in peace, and that their family is not burdened with unresolved debts.

The lecture, which was well-attended by Muslims and non-Muslims alike, was part of the Aragbiji Palace's efforts to promote Islamic knowledge and education during the holy month of Ramadan. The Palace remains committed to fostering a deeper understanding of Islamic values and traditions within the community.

In his closing remarks, His Royal Majesty Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi expressed his gratitude to Alfa Hashim AbdulHammed for delivering the lecture, and to the attendees for their participation. He encouraged all present to continue seeking knowledge and to apply the lessons learned from the lecture in their daily lives.

Following the lecture, a question-and-answer session was held, during which members of the audience had the opportunity to engage with Alfa Hashim AbdulHammed and seek clarification on various aspects of Islamic funeral rites.
