KEY PERFORMANCE INDEX(KPI): DR. DESMOND OJUMU SAYS ALHAJI ISIAKA GBOYEGA OYETOLA (CON) OUTWEIGHS SCALING STANDARD OF PERFORMANCE By Olaniyi Agboola

 

When the idea of establishing the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy was conceived by the present administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023, it was pregnant with high expectations and good deliverables. Hence, the search for a competent anchor could not be ruled out which occasioned the coming on board of a goal-getter and able, dexterous, experienced, charismatic and astute administrator, His Excellency Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, CON.

Dr. Desmond Ojumu in his words hinted that if performance was anything to measure the best then it won't be no other person than the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola whose track records cannot be surpassed among his contemporaries and fellow Ministers.

The choice of Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola as the Minister to man this nascent Ministry according to the foremost philantropist, Dr. Ojumu, was an applaudable one though not astounded to see him performing excellently because he has demonstrated such feat when he was the Governor of Osun State. As the immediate past Governor of Osun State, he judiciously managed the federal allocation to the State and the meagre internally generated revenue. The infrastructural development witnessed during his tenure, even with paucity of funds, was a testament of his prudence, administrative acumen, wisdom and all inclusive leadership style.

He said it is quite unequivocal that the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola since his assumption of duty on August 21, 2023 as a Minister has been working round the clock tirelessly and assiduously to produce a template that would guarantee pragmatic policy formulations, result-oriented programmes, human capacity building and mammoth revenue driven investments targeted at boosting Nigerian economy.

Dr. Desmond Ojumu while unveiling the record of achievements of the Honourable Minister within the short period stated that Alhaji Oyetola has been able to:

- Harness and rediscover the potentials of the country's maritime sector

- Establish a relationship with local and foreign investors aimed at turning the sector to a mammoth revenue spinning sector

- Develop marine tourism as a means of generating revenue

- Ensure safety and security of the maritime corridors of Nigeria 

- Champion a collaborative effort with other allied Ministries in the business of revamping Nation's economy

- Establish a functional organizational structure tailored at curbing bureaucratic bottlenecks but promoting efficiency and speedy deliveries

- Embark on a mission to make fishery industry surpass oil sector by changing the narrative of Nigeria as a net importer of fishery products to make Nigeria a major player in the sector.

....And so on.

Apart from the few out of his myriad sterling performance enumerated above as the Minister for Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Ojumu asserted that the Iragbiji born erudite scholar, iconic technocrat and political cicero, Alhaji Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola has proved to be an egalitarian leader for creating avenues for his constituents to serve their fatherland in various capacities with their endowed potentials. Many federal appointments have been given to sons and daughters of Osun State origin as facilitated by our selfless leader, Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola which has really portrayed him as a good and reliable frontliner one should follow his footsteps. These appointments will, in the long run, have positive effects on the micro-economy of Osun State. 

The former Osun East Senatorial Aspirant,Ife/Ijesa under APC, Dr. Desmond Ojumu said in his remark that without prejudice, sentiment or nepotism, the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, whose contributions toward realizing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration remain inexhaustible, deserves all accolades, encomiums, praises, encouragements, commendations and recommendations of being the BEST MINISTER OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
