OYES Caregivers is in high demand - Mrs Kehinde............as Non-OYES Cadets are also beneficiaries...

A peep into the various Exit  Program Trainings of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) shows it has Caregivers training in it.

This Exit Program Training is synonymous with the OYES Cadets end of service benefits. Notwithstanding, some of the Exit Programs Trainings are open to Non-OYES Cadets; the Omoluabi Caregivers Exit Program Training is one of them. 

Amazingly, OYES Caregivers known as Omoluabi Caregivers allowed Non-OYES Cadets to enjoy the benefits attached to this service.

The Non-OYES Cadets are youths who are not serving in the OYES program which is a 2-year volunteer scheme.

Little wonder it caught the attention of the media to get in-depth information about it.

The revelation is made in this interview with the Coordinator for the OYES Caregivers, called Omoluabi Caregivers:

 *Can we meet you ma?* 

I am Mrs Kehinde Oluremi Ruth. The Omoluabi Caregivers Coordinator.

 *Can you please tell us about Omoluabi Caregivers?* 

The Omoluabi Caregivers Services is one of the Exit Training Programs of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme for the Cadets in which Cadets were thought the act and art of Caregiving including First Aid and Self Defense in case of any assault.  It started since the inaugural OYES Exit Training Program and is still existing well till date.

 *When you hear Caregivers, your mind goes to the word Nanny, is it the same, and are the OYES Cadets really into it?* 

Yes it is the same and the OYES Cadets are very well into it, because it is a good paying job. Also the Caregivers is a fusion of Nanny and Geriatric. The Nanny Services are for children category, while the Geriatric is services to the adults (aged) and care for the elderly.

Most times, the Geriatrics service are demanded by those who need a Caregiver to stay with and take care of their parents in their homes.

 *You mentioned that it is a good job, how so?* 

Yes it is, in view of current economic status of the country, Caregivers' Job is a good job because you get free feeding and accommodation on the job and you get your salary of qualifiable remuneration at the end of the month. Aside those, the attention you also get from your employer is an additional appreciable remuneration.

 *We learnt that the training is extended to Non-OYES Cadets, how true?* 

It is very true that the Omoluabi Caregivers training is made available to Non-OYES Cadets who showed interest in it. This is based on the approval of our magnanimous Governor Adegboyega Oyetola who believes in the Empowerment and Engagement of all Youths in the State and he has directed that Non-OYES Cadets be considered for the training, which is one of the Empowerment and Engagement training program under the OYES program.

 *Is it here in The State of Osun alone, that the Omoluabi Caregivers services are employed?* 

No, the Omoluabi Caregivers services is not limited to Osun, it is in circulation in South Western States and Abuja. It is in very high demand by those who understand the value of our services.

 *Has there been a time when any problems aroused from the employers of Omoluabi Caregivers and the service providers?* 

Non presently; there has never been any issue or complain about our Omoluabi Caregivers services. This is because our Cadets who are into it are well trained. They also ensure full compliant to good service delivery of their services as employees to their employers.

 *How do you ensure there's no problem?* 

This is through intensive training, proper and thorough monitoring. Anyone acquainted with OYES knows that you don't leave your work undone or half finished, you have to complete your task dutifully within time frame. All thanks to the OYES Commandanté Retired Colonel EniIbukun Oyewole, who imbibed this Omoluabi ethos in us. And it's working for us. Also those working in the service have good recommendation on behavior and positive attitude. 

 *How many OYES Cadets and Non-OYES Cadets have you trained?* 

To date, the Omoluabi Caregivers services under Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES), has trained over 2,000 Caregivers and some of them have been placed and are working in Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Lagos States and Abuja.

 *How often do you get request as the service provider for Omoluabi Caregivers?* 

There are constant requests coming  for our service through person to person referral. Presently we have requests for placements, but we don't have enough Caregivers to take up the employment. This is because we are in high demand due to the good referral recommendation we get from those who are using our services.

I will like to use this opportunity to call out to Youths who are interested in this employment services.

It is a good paying job for youths from age twenty and above, who have a minimum of school leaving certificate, who have passion for taking care of people. They will be trained for two weeks or more before commencement of employment.

Empowerment and Engagement is a necessity to survive, hence I urge all interested Youths to visit OYES Headquarters to partake of the training/employment.

Caregivers Services is highly recognized in abroad, and Nigeria is wakening up into it, but Osun State is the leading State for such service through Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme, and the State is doing well in it. Also the program has mutual benefits for all including the The State economy and the participants' economic growth.
