NIGERIA 🇳🇬 AT 66: ENIAFE HAILS PRESIDENT TINUBU, HIGHLIGHTS GAINS OF RENEWED HOPE AGENDA
Hon. Kabir Abioye Eniafe, APC Chieftain and Osun Coordinator of the Osun Top Care Movement for Asiwaju, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Nigerians at home and abroad on the occasion of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
In his Independence Day message, Eniafe described the anniversary as a moment for Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s journey since October 1, 1960, celebrate the resilience of the Nigerian people and renew their commitment to building a peaceful, stable and prosperous country.
He commended President Tinubu’s administration for pursuing economic reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, while acknowledging that the reforms have also brought significant adjustments and pressures for citizens.
According to the Federal Government, the 2026 anniversary theme, “From Reforms to Stability: Consolidating Nigeria’s Renewed Hope for Shared Prosperity,” reflects its stated intention to consolidate reforms and translate economic gains into greater opportunities and improved living conditions for Nigerians.
Eniafe highlighted several developments reported by the Federal Government, including 4.43% real GDP growth in the second quarter of 2026, compared with 4.23% in Q2 2025, alongside reported improvements in foreign reserves, domestic refining capacity, investment and productive activity.
He also noted the administration’s focus on infrastructure, agriculture, education, energy, youth development, digital skills, consumer credit and enterprise, as well as programmes such as student financing and the Presidential CNG initiative.
“Nigeria’s Story Is a Story of Resilience”
Eniafe said Nigeria’s greatest strength remains its people, whose resilience, creativity and determination have sustained the country through decades of challenges.
He stated:
“At 66, Nigeria has every reason to reflect on how far we have come and the enormous possibilities that lie ahead. Our nation has faced difficult moments, but Nigerians have continued to demonstrate remarkable resilience, courage and determination.”
He commended President Tinubu for undertaking what the administration describes as structural reforms designed to strengthen fiscal management, improve the investment environment and create the foundation for sustainable economic growth.
The Federal Government says the reforms include the removal of the petrol subsidy regime, foreign-exchange reforms and measures to strengthen fiscal and monetary management.
Eniafe Highlights Economic and Developmental Progress
According to Eniafe, Nigeria’s progress should be assessed not only through economic statistics but also through the country’s capacity to strengthen productive sectors, attract investment, expand opportunities for young people and improve infrastructure.
He particularly highlighted the reported expansion of domestic refining capacity, which the Federal Government says is helping to strengthen energy security and reduce dependence on imported petroleum products.
He also welcomed reported improvements in Nigeria’s external economic position and investment activity, while stressing that the ultimate objective of economic reforms should be better livelihoods, more jobs, stronger businesses and wider opportunities for citizens.
“The real measure of progress is the extent to which economic reforms eventually translate into opportunities for families, young people, entrepreneurs, workers and communities. Nigerians deserve an economy that rewards hard work and creates room for everyone to prosper.”
A Call for Unity and Patriotism
Eniafe called on Nigerians to put aside divisions and work together for the advancement of the country.
He urged citizens, political leaders, traditional institutions, religious leaders, business owners, professionals and young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. We must continue to promote peace, tolerance, unity and mutual respect. Nation-building is not the responsibility of government alone; every Nigerian has a role to play.”
He also called for continued attention to security, education, healthcare, infrastructure and job creation, stressing that economic growth should be accompanied by improvements in citizens’ everyday lives.
Message to Nigerian Youths
Eniafe particularly urged Nigerian youths to remain hopeful and committed to building their future in Nigeria.
He encouraged young people to take advantage of opportunities in technology, entrepreneurship, agriculture, creative industries and other emerging sectors, while calling on government and private institutions to continue expanding pathways for youth participation in the economy.
“Our young people are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; they are active participants in the Nigeria of today. Their talents, ideas and energy must remain central to our national development.”
A Renewed Hope for Nigeria
Eniafe expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future and called for sustained implementation of policies that promote economic stability, productivity and shared opportunity.
He said the 66th anniversary should inspire Nigerians to look beyond present difficulties and remain committed to the collective task of building a stronger nation.
“We may not have reached where we want to be, but Nigeria remains a country of immense potential. With responsible leadership, effective policies, productive citizens and a shared commitment to national unity, we can build the Nigeria we all desire.”
He congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, members of the National Assembly, state governors, public servants and, most importantly, all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the historic occasion.
He prayed for continued peace, security, economic stability and prosperity across the country.
“May the years ahead bring greater opportunities, stronger institutions, peace and prosperity to our people. May Nigeria continue to rise and fulfil her enormous potential. May God continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
HAPPY 66TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY, NIGERIA! 🇳🇬
