​NEXT LEVEL PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT DG, OBOKUN LG CHAIRMAN DISTRIBUTE 500,000 FREE COCOA SEEDLINGS TO FARMERS

The Director General of the Next Level Progressive Movement, Hon. (Chief) Owoeye Samuel Abiodun, in partnership with the Executive Chairman of Obokun Local Government, Hon. Moroof Ogundipe, today successfully distributed 500,000 improved cocoa seedlings free of charge to cocoa farmers across Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

The agricultural empowerment programme, held at Otan-Ile, attracted APC leaders, party members, agricultural stakeholders, traditional rulers, and hundreds of cocoa farmers from across the local government.

The initiative, themed “Boosting Cocoa Production for Greater Prosperity in Obokun LG,” was aimed at enhancing cocoa production by providing farmers with improved seedlings capable of increasing yields, improving livelihoods, and strengthening the agricultural economy of Obokun Local Government.

In addition to the seedling distribution, farmers benefited from training on modern cocoa farming techniques and interactive sessions with agricultural experts, who provided practical guidance on best farming practices for sustainable cocoa production.

Speaking at the event, Hon. (Chief) Owoeye Samuel Abiodun, Director General of the Next Level Progressive Movement, described the initiative as a demonstration of the movement’s commitment to improving the welfare of farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural development. He urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the improved cocoa seedlings to increase productivity and improve their economic well-being.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Obokun Local Government, Hon. Moroof Ogundipe, commended the partnership and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower farmers and strengthen the local economy. He encouraged beneficiaries to embrace modern farming techniques to maximise the benefits of the programme.

The event also featured goodwill messages from the former Head of Service of Osun State, Dr. Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade, the former Special Adviser on Health, Prof. Siji Olamiju, and other distinguished guests, who all praised the initiative as a landmark intervention that will enhance cocoa production and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Obokun Local Government.

The successful distribution of the 500,000 improved cocoa seedlings marks another significant step toward boosting food security, increasing farmers’ productivity, and advancing the vision of a more prosperous Obokun Local Government and Osun State.
