The Executive Chairman of Boripe Local Government Council Area, Iragbiji, Hon. Odebunmi Sikiru, has called on security agencies to remain on high alert following intelligence reports of an alleged plan by suspected political thugs to attack members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in parts of Boripe Local Government.

Hon. Odebunmi said the reports, if ignored, could threaten the peaceful atmosphere that residents of Boripe have worked hard to maintain. He stressed that no individual or group should be allowed to plunge the local government into chaos for political reasons.

“We have received disturbing reports of plans by some desperate political elements to unleash violence on our members. We are placing the public and security agencies on notice so that proactive measures can be taken to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” he said.

The Council Chairman warned that anyone found sponsoring, organizing, or participating in acts of political violence would be held accountable under the law. He emphasized that democracy thrives on persuasion, not intimidation, harassment, or bloodshed.

He therefore urged the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security agencies to intensify surveillance across Boripe, identify potential flashpoints, and ensure the safety of all law-abiding citizens.

Hon. Odebunmi also appealed to APC members and supporters to remain peaceful, vigilant, and law-abiding. He urged them not to retaliate against any provocation but to promptly report suspicious movements or threats to the appropriate security authorities.

He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the security of lives and property, adding that Boripe Local Government will continue to stand for peace, unity, and democratic values.
