APATA Mourns, Consoles APC Chairman Over Wife’s Passing

It is with a heavy heart that I, Chief (Dr) Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, APATA, extend my deepest condolences to you, Alhaji Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, and to your entire family, on the painful and irreparable loss of your beloved wife, Alhaja Fatimah Oreoluwa Lawal.

The shocking and deeply disturbing news of her passing on the evening of Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife, after a brief illness, has left many of us heartbroken.

Her transition is not only a personal loss to you and your children, but also a profound loss to all who were privileged to know her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and faith.

Alhaja Fatimah Oreoluwa Lawal was a personification of humility, a devoted Muslim, a loving and supportive wife, and a caring, dedicated mother who embodied grace and compassion, and whose presence was indeed a source of strength and comfort to her immediate and extended family.

She was not only a matriarch in her home, but also a quiet pillar whose influence resonated beyond her household.

In moments like this, words often fall short. Yet, we draw strength from timeless truths. As it is written, “To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.” And in the words of Helen Keller, “What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Indeed, her memory will remain a guiding light in the lives she touched.

I am particularly mindful of the void her passing creates, especially given the love and care she so selflessly gave, not only to her children, but also to the extended family. "Her absence will be deeply felt, but her legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion will endure" 

Let me also extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire APC family in Osun State and beyond. "Our dear Chairman, this is, without doubt, a collective loss, and we share in your grief during this difficult time" 

May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her Aljanah Firdaus, and give you, the children, and the entire family the fortitude to bear this great loss.
