Formal Declaration Of Interest And Strategic Blueprint For Osun West Senatorial District, 2027. By Chief (Dr) Peter Taiwo Ogundeji (APATA), Oluomo Of Gbotaru
Distinguished Leaders of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, esteemed elders, members of the State Executive, senatorial leaders, local government and ward leaders, respected stakeholders, gentlemen of the media, youths, women, professionals, artisans, farmers, traders, and the good people of Osun West Senatorial District,
On behalf of my family and political associates, I, Chief, Dr Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, APATA, stand before you today with humility in my heart, conviction in my spirit, and an unshakable commitment to service.
I stand not merely as a politician, but as a son of the soil, a servant of the people, and a progressive who believes that leadership must be measured not by promises, but by impact.
Today, I formally declare my intention to seek the ticket of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, to contest for the Senate seat representing the good people of Osun West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
Osun West is a land of rich heritage and immense potential, blessed with industrious people, fertile land, vibrant youths, resilient women, and thriving entrepreneurs.
Yet, our people continue to face pressing challenges, youth unemployment, economic hardship, infrastructural deficits, inadequate healthcare, educational gaps, limited access to credit, and insufficient federal presence. These realities demand not rhetoric, but purposeful and result driven representation.
As the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, rightly said, “The glory of a nation is in the welfare of its people.” That welfare must not remain an aspiration, it must become a reality.
My aspiration is not built on empty promises, but on proven commitment.
Through the APATA Care Foundation, over 500 youths and women have been empowered, while more than 1,500 indigent students have benefitted from free JAMB registrations. This is leadership in action.
We envision an Osun West that is economically empowered, agriculturally productive, educationally advanced, infrastructurally developed, socially inclusive, secure, peaceful, and politically relevant. As Kwame Nkrumah said, “Action without thought is empty, thought without action is blind.”
STRATEGIC BLUEPRINT AND PROGRAMMES FOR OSUN WEST
My aspiration is anchored on a clear, people oriented and result driven blueprint built on six key pillars:
1. Economic Empowerment and Job Creation
Economic growth must be practical and visible. We will facilitate access to federal grants and intervention funds, promote entrepreneurship and small businesses, establish ICT hubs and innovation centres, support artisans and cooperative societies with structured funding, and encourage industrial clusters and agro based industries across major towns. As Julius Nyerere noted, “Development is for the people, by the people, and of the people.”
2. Agricultural Development and Food Security
We will unlock the agricultural potential of Osun West by promoting mechanised farming, facilitating access to modern inputs, developing irrigation systems for all season farming, supporting agro processing and storage facilities, and connecting farmers to viable markets, moving decisively from subsistence to commercial agriculture.
3. Education and Human Capital Development
Education remains the backbone of transformation. We will expand scholarships and bursaries, advocate for federal institutions, establish digital learning centres, promote technical and vocational education, and strengthen teacher development. As Nelson Mandela reminded us, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
4. Healthcare and Social Welfare
Quality healthcare must be accessible and affordable. We will upgrade primary healthcare centres, organise medical outreach programmes, strengthen maternal and child health services, expand access to health insurance, and promote preventive healthcare initiatives.
5. Infrastructure and Community Development
Development must reach every community. We will advocate for road construction and rehabilitation, promote rural electrification, facilitate access to clean and potable water, modernise markets, and strengthen community security through collaboration with relevant authorities.
6. Responsive and Inclusive Representation
Representation must be participatory and accountable. We will institutionalise regular town hall meetings, maintain a functional constituency office, provide transparent legislative updates, and ensure active inclusion of youths and women in governance.
LEGISLATIVE COMMITMENT
As Senator, I will sponsor impactful bills, move motions addressing pressing local concerns, attract federal projects, strengthen oversight for accountability, and firmly protect the interests of Osun West at the national level. We will not be spectators, we will be active contributors.
WHY CHIEF (DR) PETER TAIWO OGUNDEJI (APATA)
A seasoned administrator, a grassroots mobiliser, a visionary strategist, and a bridge builder with proven integrity and capacity, deeply connected to the needs of our people across Iwo, Ede, Ejigbo, Ayedire, Ola Oluwa, Irewole, Isokan, and beyond.
A CALL TO UNITY
This aspiration is not about personal ambition, it is about collective progress. As Thomas Sankara once said, “You cannot carry out fundamental change without a certain amount of madness.” That courage to act is what this moment demands.
Osun West must rise above division and unite behind competence, vision, and service.
CONCLUSION
The time is now. I, Chief, Dr Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, APATA, Oluomo of Gbotaru, stand ready to serve, ready to deliver, and ready to represent with excellence. Together, we will build a stronger, more prosperous, and progressive Osun West.
Osun West deserves better. Osun West deserves progress. Osun West deserves purposeful representation.
Chief, Dr Peter Taiwo Ogundeji, APATA
Oluomo of Gbotaru, Ido Osun
Aspirant for Senate, Osun West Senatorial District, 2027.
