Osun 2026 : Tinubu Won't Support Failure: AMBO Media Accuses Adeleke of Spreading Lies to Stay Relevant

The attention of the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts has been drawn to a baseless and mischievous rumour being circulated by privies and agents of the Osun State Government alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has entered into a pact with Governor Ademola Adeleke to secure his re-election in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

We state unequivocally that this claim is false, unfounded, and a calculated attempt to cajole unsuspecting people of Osun State. It is nothing more than a desperate move to shore up the discombobulated image of Governor Adeleke, whose administration has failed to provide purposeful and effective leadership in nearly four years in office.

President Tinubu does not believe in the leadership capacity of Adeleke, hence the reason for rejecting his overtures to defect to APC last year. President Tinubu does not tolerate and feel at home with politicians who prioritize their stomach over the well-being of the people they lead. Adeleke does not meet Mr President's standard of a good leader. 

President Tinubu detests a leader whose record on transparency and accountability is warped and unbecoming like that of Governor Adeleke. 

It is on record that our principal, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), recently had an audience with the President, where he shared his thought for the development of Osun State with the President. AMBO articulated clear strategies to replicate the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, particularly in critical sectors such as education, agriculture, and infrastructure.

Therefore, the President would not abandon a serious contender and tested public administrator like AMBO and pitch tent with a bumbler desperately seeking an unmerited  second term. 

Why should anyone expect the President to abandon a loyal and performing party man like Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji---his former appointee as MD/CEO of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), who reduced waterway accidents and fatalities by 73% and increased agency revenue by over 100% within two years---only to support a governor whose record is marked by waste and misplaced priorities.

President Tinubu has many reasons not support the re-election of Adeleke, so the propaganda that he is into a pact with Adeleke can only exist in the imagination of the dreamers behind the falsehood.

There is a deep concern over the current state of education in Osun, where students of state-owned institutions like UNILESA and UNIOSUN are made to pay fees as high as ₦1.5 million per session. This policy clearly undermines the Federal Government’s student loan initiative (NELFUND), designed to make education accessible to all Nigerians. 

Unlike the Adeleke administration, which has repeatedly increased school fees across institutions such as Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, President Tinubu firmly believes that education should be within the reach of every Nigerian child.

The Adeleke  government has not been cooperative with the Federal Government as the state government works at cross-purposes with the Federal Government.

It is unfortunate that under Governor Adeleke, critical federal government projects in the state have been neglected or outrightly sabotaged. The Child and Mother Care Hospital in Osogbo is one. 

The facility has remained stalled for over three years, with reports of federal equipment being diverted by the state government for other uses. 

Similarly, the 80-bed SDG Hospital in Ipetumodu has been abandoned since its handover in 2023, while the Skills Acquisition Centre in Iragbiji lies idle. Even the Alternative High School for Girls in Osogbo, facilitated by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has not been put to proper use since its handover in December 2024.

These deliberate acts of neglect, which many believe are to stifle the federal government presence in the state and create negative media for the APC government during electioneering, cannot earn Governor Adeleke any goodwill from a progressive leader like President Tinubu, who is committed to national development and good governance.

President Tinubu will also not support Adeleke's re-election on account of his government's lack of priority on key sectors of the economy. While AMBO has pledged to invest heavily in agriculture and food security, the Adeleke administration reportedly spent a meagre ₦7 billion in that sector over three years, yet expended about ₦92 billion for office, drinking and eating with resources that could empower the citizens. At a time when citizens are grappling with economic realities, such unacceptable fiscal irresponsibility of the governor cannot  make him the choice of the President who strives day and night to bring succour to the people. Mr President will rather identify with his party man, AMBO, who has shown workings and is committed to scaling up the economy. 

President Tinubu will not throw his weight behind an Adeleke government which diverts federal government grants and financial supports at will. Of particular concern is the failure of the state government to account for the ₦11.9 billion received from the Federal Government in 2024 under the Development of Natural Resources and Stabilization Funds.

Furthermore, despite benefiting from a federal debt relief initiative that reduced the state’s debt by nearly ₦60 billion in 2024, the Adeleke administration has chosen to mislead the public by claiming sole credit for this achievement.The government continues to demonize the federal government policy in Osun media space while pretending to be friendly with Mr President in Abuja. 

President Tinubu recognizes leadership capacity and has clearly seen the potential in Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji to reposition Osun State on the path of sustainable growth and prosperity. His continued support for AMBO’s aspiration is rooted in competence, performance, and vision---not political opportunism.

We therefore call on Governor Adeleke and his associates to desist from dragging the name of Mr President into their political propaganda. If they seek re-election, they should present their scorecard to the people of Osun State and allow voters to make an informed decision. President Tinubu's philosophy on leadership is profound, at variance with Adeleke 's chop-and-chop creed. Adeleke is a NO-NO for a welfarist leader like Jagaban Borgu.
