Community Cries Out Over Prism Steel Mills' Toxic Emissions in Ikirun/Iragbiji, calls FG, State Govt, LGs to intervene

OPEN LETTER TO PRISM STEEL MILLS, IKIRUN, OSUN STATE

Ikirun, Osun State.

Dear Sir,

AIR POLLUTION, ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS AND EFFECTS ON HUMAN HEALTH

I'm writing to express deep concern about air pollution and environmental hazards caused by your steel rolling operation in Ikirun and Iragbiji land. Emissions from your mill have raised serious health concerns among residents, impacting their well-being and quality of life.

The pollutants released likely include particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides, which can cause respiratory problems, cardiovascular diseases, and other health issues. Residents have reported increased cases of respiratory distress, skin irritation, and other health problems.

We urge Prism Steel Mills to:

- Implement measures to minimize emissions and pollution

- Adopt cleaner production technologies

- Conduct regular environmental audits

- Engage with the community on environmental issues

We've notified the Federal Ministry of Steel, Ministry of Environment, Osun State, Ifelodun Local Government, and Boripe Local Government, seeking their intervention.
