2026 Guber: Osun Integrity Group Hails PDP Primary, Tells Governor Adeleke to Begin Preparing Handover Notes

A wave of reactions has continued to trail the outcome of the Osun PDP gubernatorial primary, with the Integrity Group of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, congratulating the party for what it described as a “remarkable and eye-opening” exercise.

In a statement released to the public on Tuesday in Osogbo by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ismail Alade Iwa, the State Chairman, Comr. Salam Mustapha Olamilekan (ASMOF), said the PDP deserved commendation for organizing a primary election that genuinely reflected the choices of party members across the state.

Comr. Salam expressed delight at the emergence of Mr. Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola (FRYO), who gallantly defeated Governor Ademola Adeleke in a contest many observers had predicted would expose the growing discontent within the ruling party.

According to the Osun Integrity Group, the peaceful and transparent nature of the exercise marked a refreshing shift from what Osun people have become familiar with in recent years.

“For once, Osun witnessed a PDP primary without fear, intimidation, or the usual drama of violence and sudden blackout,” the statement read. “This is progress, and it should be acknowledged.”

Comr. Salam urged Governor Adeleke to take the outcome in good faith, noting that leadership requires moments of humility and reflection.

“The voices of PDP delegates were loud and sincere. Rather than contemplating defection or engaging in blame games, it is time for Mr. Governor to begin preparing his handover notes. Osun people are watching, and this moment should not be wasted on denial,” he said.

He also called on PDP members to rally behind FRYO as the party begins its journey toward the 2026 election, even though, as a watchdog organization, the Integrity Group made it clear that it does not support the continuation of PDP governance in the state.

“We congratulate FRYO as a candidate, but Osun needs a new direction—one grounded in competence, seriousness, and genuine development,” Comr. Salam added.

The group further encouraged other political parties, especially the APC and ADC, to take a lesson from the PDP by conducting primaries that prioritize fairness and integrity over backroom deals and political manipulation.

Comr. Salam concluded by urging the PDP candidate to present a manifesto that speaks to the real issues affecting Osun people.

“This is a time to focus on the welfare of citizens, not on entertainment-style governance. Osun deserves a leadership that listens, plans, and delivers,” he said.
