OSUN: Encomiums as President Tinubu's appointee, Kayode Sowade empowers over 600 households.
...Says opposition parties coalition against Tinubu's re-election dead-on-arrival
An appointee of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu - Executive Director, Engineering Services of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, Abeokuta, Engr. Oluwakayode Sowade on Thursday declared that the ongoing coalition of opposition parties in Nigeria 'is dead-on-arrival' as it has no iota of effect on the soaring strengths and wide acceptability of the ruling party in the country.
He described the coalition motive as a sketched horse that only exists on paper without life, saying "the premeditated conspiracy of disgruntled politicians has no effect on the return and reelection of President Tinubu come 2027."
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State expressed confidence that the party remains solid to maintain its status for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 and Osun 2026 governorship election without any threat of coalition against its progress.
This is just as the hundreds of beneficiaries of the 6th edition of the quarterly empowerment programme, tagged Oyetola Hand of Fellowship, showered encomiums on Sowade, Marine and Blue Economy Minister, Adegboyega Oyetola and President Tinubu for meeting them at the point of their needs.
Recall that Sowade has been empowering the people of the State through his people-oriented and masses-focused initiative where close to 20,000 households have benefitted tremendously since the introduction of the programme.
Speaking at the 6th edition of the empowerment programme held at Ipetumodu, Ife-North Local Government Area of Osun, Sowade reaffirmed his commitment to continuously impacting the lives of the people, noting that the motive behind the sustenance of the initiative was to continue the good and indelible legacies of the former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola who initiated it.
"The motive behind the sustenance of this programmme is to continue the good and indelible legacies of our leader, immediate past Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola. We all knew that the former Governor started this initiative through the then monthly Food Support Scheme christianed Ilerioluwa Food Support, and we keyed into it shortly after he exited government as our little way to impact more in the people's lives, particularly the vulnerable and downtrodden in the society.
"It is unfortunate that the good initiative introduced by our leader - Adegboyega Oyetola while serving the state in which masses particularly the less-privileged and vulnerable citizens used to receive food items on monthly basis has been scrapped by the incumbent government led by Senator Ademola Adeleke. So, in our own capacity, we felt there is need to continue the good motive to advance the cause of our people by meeting their basic financial needs", he added,
Sowade berated the conspiracy motive being promoted by some 'self-centred' members of the opposition parties who are craving for coalition in the country against the reelection bid of president Tinubu, saying it is crystal clear and known to Nigerians that the antecedents of the coalition propagators have shown clearly that they meant no well for the country and Nigerians.
"We had something bigger than coalition before the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yet he weathered the storm and political hurricane. Nothing is as big as the coalition experienced by President Tinubu in the buildup to the 2023 general elections when the currency was changed for obvious reasons; when inflation came among other anomalies, yet, Tinubu emerged victorious. Now that we have the power of incumbency, coalition is dead on arrival and as you can see, the coalition is not meant to do anything good for Nigeria and Nigerians. It is for selfish interest of the propagators and political gladiators. We shouldn't be wasting our time talking about it because coalition is an expired product and it has no stake", he stated.
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the APC Local Government Chairmen, Elder Awotidoye Rufus Ayokunnu extolled Sowade for being consistent and faithful to the programme since its launch.
"We have to appreciate Sowade for his consistency and determination to this laudable initiative that has contributed greatly and impacted tremendously in people's lives. Alhough this is the first time of holding this event in Ife-North, it is on record that he (Sowade) has been doing it in the past in his town where many had benefitted. It is a welcome development to promote the party and impact lives. I want to encourage our people to key into this initiative and always abide by the principles and manifestoes of the party which are meant to turn around the fortune of our people", he stated.
Some of the beneficiaries of the cash and other gift items showered encomiums on Sowade, Oyetola and Tinubu for taking the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
Pa Samson Toromade, Mrs Ramota Olaniyi, Mr. Tobilola Samuel, Mrs Rebecca John among other beneficiaries promised to use the money judiciously and productively.
The event had in attendance, Ife-North Local Government APC Chairman, Hon. Philips Adebiyi; Oluoje of Ipetumodu, High Chief Aresa Odewale Adebisi; Chairman, Ife-North Local Government, Hon. Ayoola Ebenezer; Chairman Ife-North Council, Hon. Ayoola Adeyeba; Chairman Ife-North Area Office, Hon. Oyadosu Issac; Chairman Ife-North LCDA, Hon. Kemi Okedairo; APC chieftains, Engr.
