Appeal Court : No Vacancy in Osun Local Government Administration - ALGON

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State Chapter,  has assured the people of the state that the local government administration in Osun State is intact under the leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC) elected Chairmen and Councilors asking the members  to ignore the sponsored misinformation by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 

ALGON said that the June 13th, 2025  Appeal Court judgment has no effects on the status of the APC's Chairmen and Councilors presently holding sway in all the local governments, arguing that it only reaffirmed the existence of February 10, 2025 which reinstated the chairmen and Councilors.

Osun State Chairman of ALGON, Hon Abiodun Idowu in statement in Osogbo, Osun State Capital, said the State government and PDP are only trying effortlessly to distort the verdict of  the Appeal Court sitting in Akure.

He  said the the association is not in anyway disorbed  nor distracted with the PDP antics to undermine the local government administration in the state saying the February 10 Appeal Court judgment has come to stay except contrary position at the supreme court.

Abiodun urged elected chairmen and councilors to remain calm and be law abiding and continue to discharge their responsibility without fear adding that law enforcement agents have been alerted about the antics of the PDP to instigate crisis and breach of public peace. 

Abiodun said " As legal authority in 30 local governments and area office in the state, we wish to reassure the people of the state that there is no vacancy in local government administration in Osun State and urge  the public to ignore the blatant lies and misinformation being circulated by PDP about the court of Appeal Akure. 

"For record purpose, the Appeal Court ruling only established potency  of the judgment delivered on 10th February, 2025 which reinstated the Chairmen and Councilors elected on 15th October, 2022 and by implication and clearly there is no vacancy in Osun Local governments.

" Tody's Court of Appeal ruling is just the refusal of APC and our members application to relist the dismissed APP's  judgment, the February 10 Appeal court judgment is still subsisting and valid  except any other pronouncement by Supreme Court.

" We, therefore, assure our people that the local government administration is intact and of members should continue their official responsibilities in various council Secretariats in the state. We have alerted  the security agents for protection and our members in all local governments." 

" We, then, restate our commitment to our electoral promises to make life more abundant for the people at the grassroots level and assure the members of the state protection of life and property." Abiodun said.
