MAY DAY :- Hon. Chief Adeniyi Ismail Oluwatosin (AIO) Celebrates Workers on May Day: Salutes Their Sacrifice, Reaffirms Commitment to Their Welfare
As the world marks International Workers’ Day today, May 1st, Hon. Chief Adeniyi Ismail Oluwatosin (AIO), a respected chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Boluwaduro, Ifedayo, and Ila Federal Constituency, extends heartfelt greetings and solidarity to all Nigerian workers, especially those in Osun State and across our local governments.
In his message, AIO described workers as the engine room of every functional society, emphasizing that their resilience, sweat, and silent sacrifices have kept both public and private institutions afloat, even in the most difficult economic times. He noted that the labour force is not just a symbol of hard work but also a living proof of patriotism and dedication to nation-building.
AIO said:
"On this special day, I celebrate the Nigerian worker. I salute your courage, your persistence, and your belief in the promise of a better tomorrow. Your contributions are not forgotten. We see you, we hear you, and we stand with you."
As a progressive voice within the APC, AIO has continually aligned himself with the ideals of inclusive governance, improved welfare, and economic empowerment. He strongly believes that for any society to progress, the dignity of labour must be preserved and rewarded.
He therefore used the occasion of this Workers’ Day to call on all tiers of government, particularly those under the APC platform, to recommit themselves to policies that prioritize fair wages, decent work environments, and social safety nets for workers.
In the same vein, he urged all Nigerian workers to throw their support behind the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which he described as “labour-conscious and welfare-oriented.” According to AIO, the Tinubu administration has shown practical commitment to uplifting workers and transforming the economy to create more opportunities for all.
"This administration, under our able President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is prioritizing workers’ welfare. It is important that we all support and give the government the time and unity it needs to deliver on its promises. Progress takes collective effort," AIO added.
Specifically addressing local government workers under the aegis of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Hon. AIO appealed for their swift return to work in the interest of grassroots development. He emphasized that the local government is the closest arm of governance to the people, and without the presence of workers in the system, true progress at the grassroots would remain stalled.
"Our communities need the expertise and presence of our local government workers. I appeal to our NULGE brothers and sisters to resume duty and partner with us in driving development to the grassroots. The people are waiting, and your impact is crucial," he urged.
Furthermore, he reaffirmed his personal resolve to advocate for more job opportunities, skill acquisition for youths, and improved access to education and healthcare, knowing fully well that these are factors that uplift the average worker and reduce dependency.
In his characteristic style, AIO concluded with a prayer for continued strength and protection for all workers:
"May Almighty God reward your sacrifices, bless the works of your hands, and protect you and your households. You are the pride of our nation. Happy Workers’ Day!"
Indeed, with leaders like AIO who recognize the value of labour and consistently stand by the people, hope remains alive for a more equitable and prosperous Nigeria.
