As schools resume today in Osun State, the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has once again failed to issue employment letters to teachers recruited over the last two years. This development has left the affected teachers in a state of uncertainty and concern, as they await official confirmation of their employment status.

Despite repeated promises and assurances from the Governor's office, the employment letters have yet to be issued. This failure is a clear indication of the administration's lack of commitment to the welfare and well-being of teachers in Osun State, affecting not only the teachers but also students and the education sector as a whole.

In a surprising move, Governor Adeleke's administration sacked 1,500 teachers recruited by the previous administration of Former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. Furthermore, the recruitment process for the new 5,000 teachers announced in 2022 has been marred by controversy, with allegations of irregularities and unfair treatment.

The Commissioner for Education in Osun and the Governor's office have made promises, but the employment letters remain elusive, leaving the affected teachers in limbo.

The Osun State Government must take immediate action to address this issue, providing the affected teachers with the employment letters they rightfully deserve. The government's failure to do so will only exacerbate the already dire situation, with far-reaching consequences for the education sector and the state as a whole.
