...Warns Against Illegal Market Rate Collection

The Executive Chairman of Boripe Local Government Area, led by Hon. Sikiru Odebunmi, convened a crucial strategic meeting with the heads of market women in Boripe Local Government. The meeting, held in Iragbiji, brought together representatives from the five towns of Iragbiji, Aagba, Ada, Ororuwo, and Iree, with the aim of addressing key issues affecting traders and market women across the Local government.

During the meeting, the Chairman issued a stern warning to individuals involved in the collection of market rates without the proper authorization from the Council authorities. The Executive Chairman made it clear that such unauthorized activities must cease immediately, stressing that only duly recognized personnel, authorized by the Council, are permitted to collect market fees.

The Chairman further emphasized that failure to comply with this directive would result in legal action. This move is part of the ongoing efforts by the Council to safeguard the interests of market women and ensure a regulated, transparent system for market fee collection in the local government.

In a significant show of unity, all the Iyaloja in attendance expressed their full support for the Council’s leadership and the decision to regulate market rate collection. They affirmed their commitment to working with the Council to uphold good governance and maintain order within the markets. This collective endorsement reinforces the collaboration between the market leadership and the Executive Council, aimed at fostering growth and development within Boripe Local Government.

The meeting also served to strengthen the bond between the Council and market women, reiterating the Council’s dedication to supporting their welfare, economic empowerment, and the continued development of the local markets. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to good governance and the provision of quality infrastructure and services to uplift the communities within Boripe Local Government.

In attendance were the following Iyaloja’s: Chief Mrs. Ogunyemi Turayo (Iragbiji) ,Mrs. Oyedokun Sikirat (Iragbiji), Mrs. Kodiri Rasidat (Aagba), Mrs. Ola Wale Funmilayo (Aagba), Mrs. Odukanmi Florence (Ada), Mrs. Adewuyi Foluke (Ororuwo), Mrs. Azeez Serifat (Ayepe Iragbiji), Mrs. Oladiti Taye (Iragbiji) and Iyaloja Iree. 

This meeting marks a significant step in enhancing cooperation between the Council and market stakeholders, ensuring that Boripe Local Government remains on a path of progress, stability, and shared prosperity.
