"Union of Campus Journalists UCJ Summit Boosts Journalism in Nigeria'"

The Global Summit and induction of the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ) held at the University of Ibadan was a memorable event that brought together media personalities, scholars, and students.

Despite a tight schedule, I made it a point to attend the summit, representing my friend Adeniyi Ismail Oluwatosin who was unavoidably absent.

The summit featured a panel discussion on the boundary between journalism, public relations, and propaganda. I had the privilege of sharing the stage with distinguished personalities, including:

- Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, and a respected media oracle.

- Dr. Babatunde Ojebuyi, my teacher and erudite scholar.

- Mr. Dare Oguntola, the Online Editor of The Nation Newspaper.

- Mojeed Jamiu, my senior colleague and Managing Editor of Offshore.

- Alao Abiodun of The Nation Newspaper.

The discussion was insightful, and we explored the nuances of journalism, public relations, and propaganda. The summit also provided a platform for students and young journalists to learn from experienced professionals in the field.

I extend my gratitude to Ismail for motivating me to attend the summit. The experience reinforced my optimism about the future of journalism in Nigeria, thanks to the presence of ambitious and talented young individuals.

As we bid farewell to 2024, I remain hopeful that collective efforts will continue to elevate the journalism profession in Nigeria. The summit was a testament to the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing in promoting excellence in journalism.
