The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has refuted the claim by one of the chieftains of the party who alleged that party would zone the governorship ticket of the party to the West Senatorial district if the current leader of the party in the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, declines to contest for the 2026 governorship election.

The rebuttal was contained in a statement by state publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Wole Adunola, who said the party is yet to take a position on the 2026 governorship race rather the leadership of the party in the state  is currently focused on the ongoing rebuilding of party structures and confidence building among it members to better position the party for future elections.

Adunola said the concern of the leadership of the party in the state at the moment is to continue to provide a virile opposition to the people of Osun and expose the hand_handedness of the current occupier of the seat of government, the peoples democratic party, who he said, have engulfed themselves in wasteful spending despite the obvious hunger in the state.

He said, there is no argument about the fact that the immediate past governor of the state and current minister of marine and blue economy Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola is the leader of the party in the state and would be given right of first refusal before the party could put other machineries in place to present a formidable candidate that can restle power from the juvenile government of peoples democratic party.

"Our party is the most blessed with resourceful personalities today across the length and breadth of Osun who have demonstrated history of capacities in their personal, professional and public life"

"So,  we wont conditioned ourselves rather we have history of presenting our best and that is what the party would do at the right time"
