No fewer than 1250 Osun residents on Sunday received cash gift and raw food items in Modakeke, Ife-East Area Office as part of empowerment being sponsored and funded by the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Kayode Sowade.

This is even as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola extolled the sustained efforts of the sponsor describing him a 'genuine philanthropist.' 

The number of the beneficiaries of the 5th edition of Oyetola Hand of Fellowship was purposely extended in commemoration of the 70th birthday anniversary of the former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola. 

Oyetola who was represented by the former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Olalekan Yinusa acknowledged the successful implementation of the empowerment programme that had benefitted thousands of households since its inception. 

The former Osun state Governor enjoined well meaning Nigerians to emulate Sowade's gesture targeted at impacting lives of the residents of the state particularly the less-privileged and downtrodden in the society.

Oyetola admonished the beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously just as he canvased support for the present administration in its efforts to take the country to greater heights.

Earlier, the donor, Engr. Kayode Sowade, expressed gratitude to God for the sustainability of the programme since its introduction last year. 

He promised to continue the gesture till 2027 as earlier pledged just as he implored the beneficiaries to apply the money for the purpose meant for. 

Some of the beneficiaries eulogized Sowade for meeting them at the point of their needs.
