Prays for Bill amendment from 'Tropical' to 'Development' Studies

Lauds The Senate on innovative leadership

Leading stakeholders from the host community to the Senate Public Hearing on establishment of the proposed Federal University in Iragbiji, the traditional ruler of the ancient town, Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, has prayed in agreement with the Senate Leader's new recommendation for the amendment and change of the Establishment bill from Federal University of Agriculture and Tropical Studies, Iragbiji, to Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI).

This, according to the monarch, becomes expedient in order to make the proposed University more flexible, globally competitive, a world player in developing a nexus between agriculture and development, as well as leveraging on its mandate to create a synergy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Directly responding to the Senate enquiry on availability and provision of land for the proposed University, Oba Olabomi while delivering his public speech said his host community has expanse of land in abundance, adding that a thousand hectares of land has been demarcated and reserved for the location of the proposed institution. 

He also said his town, Iragbiji, is blessed with human resources, sociocultural and agricultural orientation of his people needed for the accommodation of both the structure and personnel of the proposed University.

Speaking further, the proposed University host-monarch prayed the Senate for smooth and timely passage of the establishment Bill, with expression of gratitude to the Senate leadership. 

On his Majesty's royal entourage to the Senate in Abuja today was a Royal Highness, Yoruba-king in Funtua, who hails from Iragbiji, Alh. Muritala Adeleke Sanni. Others were prominent palace Chiefs, professors and other academic scholars, who are indigenes of Iragbiji, community leaders, Chief Executive Officers and players of industries, and well-wishers from far, near and within Abuja, amongst other dignitaries.
