Aragbiji to Senate: 'Iragbiji is blessed with resources to host Federal University'

Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV, has assured the Nigerian Senate of availability of abundant resources blessed with by his ancient town, Iragbiji, to host the proposed Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies.

The monarch gave this assurance on Wednesday while delivering his address at the Senate during a Public Hearing on the Establishment Bill SB. 569, seeking legislative approval for the establishment of the proposed federal University in Iragbiji. 

Allaying what appeared as 'fear of uncertainty' expressed by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions, Senator Simeon Lalong, and directly responding to his enquiry over availability and provision of land for the University, Oba Olabomi said his host community has expanse of land in abundance, assuring the leadership of the Senate that a thousand hectares of land has been demarcated and reserved for the location of the proposed institution. 

Speaking further, Aragbiji said: "Iragbiji is blessed with human resources, sociocultural and age-long agricultural orientation of my people needed for the accommodation of the structure, personnel and operations of the University."

Consequently, the host-monarch prayed the Senate for smooth and timely passage of the Establishment Bill, with expression of gratitude to the leadership of the Senate. 

On Aragbiji's royal entourage to the Senate in Abuja was a Royal Highness, Yoruba-king in Funtua, who hails from Iragbiji, Alh. Muritala Adeleke Sanni. Others were prominent palace Chiefs, professors and other academic scholars, who are indigenes of Iragbiji, community leaders, Chief Executive Officers and players of industries, and well-wishers from far, near and within Abuja, amongst other dignitaries.
