REMI OMOWAIYE, A LEADER WITH A GREAT COMPASSION FOR THE YOUTHS. By Adewumi L Abiola

The fact remains that, leadership isn’t a solo act. Many things determine what leaders can and can’t do. But what makes them tick is how the leader’s personality or character informs their actions. In fact, Engr Omowaiye Oluremi has a lot of attitudes and behaviours that distinguish him as a good leader.

A good leader should have integrity, self-awareness, courage, respect, compassion, and resilience. They should be learning agile and flex their influence while communicating the vision, showing gratitude, and collaborating effectively. Though, nobody is perfect, but I can beat my chest that Omowaiye possess the above characteristics/qualities. Get me right, the fact that someone doesn’t have a direct personal benefit from a leader doesn’t make that person a bad person, but the measure should be the ability of that leader to touch people’s life or giving out to humanity. 

If one will not be economical with the truth, Engr. Omowaiye is trying his best in term of reaching out to the masses, most especially youths within and without the party. I can take everything, but I can’t accept someone telling me what to do with my personal wealth. Giving charity and empowerment is two different things. Just life fisebililahi/sadakat is different from given Zakat in Islam. You can’t come out to condemn one for another, it’s depends on one’s ability. He may choose not to do it, nobody will hold him/her responsible for it. 

We are all living witness to how Engr Omowaiye moved round the state to distribute Chicken and rice to the masses during Xtian, even when he is no more in office as commissioner, and he never tire of doing good and assisting the needy. Which implies that his kind gesture is inbuilt and natural, not for eyes service… That’s on charity aspects. 

On empowering the people; I could remember I was in his house early this year, he hasn’t got the Federal appointment then. We were discussing how more youths can get more employment, in fact he even asked me about what I’m doing, and how he can be of assistance in that regards, but a call came him from someone he rendered assistance to when he was the Commissioner for Works and Transport, the man asked him some questions about how he can assist some youths or party with some millions of Naira, and the empowerment will carry Ileri-Oluwa empowerment..(I don’t want to coat the figure). Though, I haven’t benefit anything directly from him before, but that day I discovered he empowered many youths, and he never get tired of doing it.. only that he is not a noice maker

We may encourage him to do more in term

of empowerment, but to say he is not doing anything in term of employment is total fallacy and half truth. I want to encourage other leaders, who have opportunity like him to build people around them, and I’m sure that God is there to compensate good deeds.  I give it to my chairman, Hon. Asalu Ayodele David(Asler), and Hon Holalekan Omo Odekilekun(Hon. Olalekan Badmus-Omo Oloore), they are doing there best too. May Almighty God reward them in multiple folds.

Forget not, anything you do today, good or bad, tomorrow shall tell. If you are in any position today, use that your good office to build people, table will definitely turn, and history will be kind to you.
