Oyetola mourns death of APC chieftain, Sola Lawal
...condoles with family, people of Ile -Ife
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola on Thursday, described the death of one of the prominent chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, late Sola Lawal, as shocking.
The former Osun state Governor who described the deceased as a refined politician and professional of note, said he received the news of his death with a heavy heart.
Lawal's death was announced in the early hours of Thursday by the family after he breathed his last. Lawal died at the age of 61 years in Lagos after a brief illness.
Oyetola, in a statement made available to newsmen by his media aide, Ismail Omipidan, said late Lawal was a very courageous politician, astute administrator and thoroughbred media practitioner.
He recalled his immense contributions to the party in particular, Ile -Ife, Osun state and Nigeria as a whole while he was on the planet earth.
The Minister expressed deep condolences to the immediate family of the deceased particularly his wives and children just as he beseeched God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
"On behalf of my family and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state, we express our heartfelt condolences to the wives and children of late Sola Lawal who breathed his last on Thursday. Lawal was a great party-man, highly courageous and disciplined. He was no doubt a silent philanthropist and journalist of repute.
"The news of his death was not only devastating but shocking. It is quite unfortunate that the party has lost a great man. I pray God grants him Aljanah Firdaus," he said.
Late Lawal, a veteran journalist was the former Special Adviser on Media to former Ogun state Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba; former Ogun State APC Publicity Secretary; former APC Ife-Ijesa Senatorial District Aspirant, former member, Osun State Capital Territory Development Authority and immediate past Chairman, Ogun /Osun River Basin Development Authority.
