—As Monarch receives _ 'The Distinguished Alumnus'_ award

The newly appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdur-Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi Odundun IV has described his recent appointment by President Tinubu led-government as a call to service in the sphere of education.

The monarch stated this Saturday while delivering his address as 'The Distinguished Alumnus' of the University during the 60th Founders' Day Celebration and Conferment of Award of Excellence on Distinguished Alumni held at the Institution's Auditorium in Ondo. 

With his appointment, Oba Abdur-Rasheed, who had earlier midweek received award of 'Fellow' of the University, is the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Governing Board Chairman of the citadel of learning.

In his first speech at the University, not as a Pro-Chancellor though, since announcement of his new portfolio, Aragbiji assured the management, students and Alumni body of the Institution that he would deploy his social, moral and intellectual arsenal to bring the unique vision and mission for converting the 60th year-old College to a University of Education to fruition for the benefit of all.

"My appointment, though political in nature since it's via the presidency through the Federal Ministry of Education, it's however not political in the functionality sense of the tasks ahead of me.

"We are poised to kick the ground running given the fact that the tasks are enormous, but our feet have not touched the ground yet, as our inauguration by the President is forthcoming", the Monarch said, with expression of his gratitude to the Alumni association and the Institution over the award conferred on him. 

On the entourage list of the Pro-Chancellor to AFUED were prominent members of Iragbiji Development Association led by Dr. Lateef Raheem, members of the Aragbiji-in-Council, his Chief of Staff, Alh. Oladiti Olayide, and an illustrious son of the Monarch, pioneer Head of Department of Strategic Communication and Media Studies at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, Dr. Jimoh Olorede, among many others, including Aragbiji's subjects resident in Ondo who also joined him to receive the meritorious award.
