Gov. Oyetola's Giants stride in 3 months.*
When the Governor state of Osun Mr Gboyega Oyetola took Oath of office on the 27TH of November last year, he stated in his inaugural speech that, running a government of an all inclusive, full and timely payment of workers' salaries, increase of internally generated revenue and infrastructural development drive would top his priority list.
A few weeks after he took the mantle of leadership as Governor, Mr Oyetola went straight to business, the first step he took was to prepare and present a balanced financial appropriation bill for 2019 budget tagged 'budget of hope' which had capital expenditure above recurrent expenditure which everyone adjuged as realistic in view of the areas of it's implementation majorly based on internally generated income of the state, the first of its kind in the history of Osun.
As a matter of urgency, having gone round the state during his electioneering campaigns and discovered that virtually every township road was in deplorable condition across the state, he immediately set the machinery in motion to take the bull by the horns by selecting major towns for rehabilitation.
The first phase of works captured roads in various cities like Osogbo, Ife, Ilesa, Ede and Ejigbo, others are Ikire, Ikirun and Iwo while the second phase will accommodate other towns and communities across the state.
In Osogbo for instance, the stretch of the road from Oke-fia to NUT end, via Estate is already wearing a new look as the areas that are prone and susceptible to flood have their drainage systems expanded to accommodate the body of water hitherto spilling unto the roads.
In Ede, the rehabilitation works took place from popular Oke gada down to Agip area through The Baptist High School to the rest of the length of the road.
In Ikirun, the road linking the town with Iragbiji and Ororuwo was not just being rehabilitated but reconstructed.
Ilesa, Iwo and Ikire are also currently having their own shares in the ongoing road rehabilitation project embarked upon by the present administration of Governor Oyetola as the major roads and bridges in those towns are being rehabilitated simatenously.
It is expedient to say that this face lift would not only make the residents of the state to have a sign of relief but would also boost commercial activities of the people.
Governor Gboyega Oyetola having realized the importance of healthy living among the people to increase efficiency and productivity as they say healthy society is healthy economy, decided to rehabilitate and equip all Government hospitals and primary health carsi centers in all the 332 wards made up of the state to guarantee free access to medical care for all the residents of Osun.
Governor Oyetola who flagged off the hospital rehabilitation project at the state government hospital in Ejigbo equally promised to provide comfortability for the medical personnel and employ more personnel to effectively and efficiently man the medical facilities to be provided for better service and performance.
This is affirmative to the avowed commitment of Governor Gboyega Oyetola to prioritize the well-being of the people of the state which is part of promises made kept by his Government within the three months in office.
Suffice to say very clearly that it is only when the Government provides the enabling and agreeable environment for trade and commerce to thrive, that the residents would be able to pay taxes as sales would also thrive.
It is the belief and evident that the current administration in the state under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola has started off well as it combines road infrastructure, health care management with full payment of salaries and pension just to hit the ground running
Although, it has to be brought to mind that full payment of salaries had started since July last year before Mr Oyetola took the mantle of leadership but he hard built on that with a promise to even find every mean to improve on it to ensure a better condition for his workforce.
The exact three months in office of Governor Gboyega Oyetola is remarkable as it coincided with the victory and declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday 27th of February 2019 by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the winner of the just concluded presidential election held on Saturday 23rd February 2019.
It is therefore very pertinent for us as citizens and residents of Osun to learn to make some sacrifices for a better Osun and for the incoming generations as the present Government of Mr Gboyega Oyetola has within its first Three months in the saddle of responsibility displayed a high sense of responsibility and commitment to provide Government of inclusiveness in which everybody will have a sense of belonging and have abundant Life as envisaged and promised to the people of Osun in three month ago when the new Government in Osun came on board amidst high expectations.
